Representatives from Jesvil attended the “RBSM”—Reverse Buyer Seller Meet—on November 15 and 16, 2022. The two-day programme was conducted by the Embassy of India in association with the Chamber of Commerce in Sudan. The event was held at the headquarters of the Chamber of Commerce Office in Khartoum.
The programme also included business-to-business (B2B) meetings. The delegates from 14 Indian companies were headed by Mr. Manish Sharma, Regional Head of FIEO (Federation of Indian Export Organization). The purpose of the meeting was to facilitate interaction and tie-ups with the visiting Indian and Sudanese companies.
The B2B meetings were officially launched on November 15 in the presence of H.E. Mrs. Amal Salih Saad Mohamed, Sudan’s Federal Minister of Trade and Supply; Dr. Hassabo, Sudan’s National Chamber of Importers President; HE Mr. B. S. Mubarak, India’s Ambassador; and Mr. Manish Sharma, Regional Head, FIEO (NR).
The delegates were welcomed by H.E. Mrs. Amal Salig Saad Mohamed, Federal Minister of Trade and Supply. Her speech highlighted the significance of Indian trade and investment in strengthening Sudan’s economy and praised India’s role as Sudan’s major strategic business partner. Mr. B. S. Mubarak, Ambassador of India, gave a clear vision of the India-Sudan trade relationship, challenges, and opportunities. He further probed the future scope of bilateral trade and ensured that the Embassy is working on the future development of trade and investment between India and Sudan.
The Embassy hosted a “Networking Meet with the Visiting Indian Commercial Delegation” on November 16 at Hotel Kanon to explore fostering business alliances. The event was attended by prominent Sudanese businesspeople from a range of industries, business facilitators, government officials, and members of several trade associations. In addition, Mr. Murtada Mehdi, a business facilitator and importer of agricultural machinery, and Mr. Badurddin Abdul Maroof, secretary general of the Union of Chambers of Commerce, commented on the business opportunities in Khartoum. The ambassador congratulated the business delegation on their agreements with Sudanese businesses. He further assured the delegates of the support of the Embassy to explore trade opportunities and find business partners.
The visit also included a familiarisation visit to the 3rd session of the Sudan Agrotech Expo, which was being organized from November 14–17, 2022, at Sudanese Fairs Ground, Khartoum. With more than 500 Sudanese business people in attendance, the programme was an excellent opportunity to learn about the business scenarios in Sudan and to build good rapport with the business community in Sudan.
